In celebration of Scotland’s most famous poet, Robert Burns, Scottish sensations Mac & Wild will mark the annual tradition of Burns Night with a whole week of shenanigans including Burns inspired menus, a dedicated Burns pop-up with Copper Dog and of course, poetry and pipers. From Tuesday 21st to Saturday 25th January, both Mac & Wild Devonshire Square and Mac & Wild Fitzrovia will be celebrating the life and works of Scotland’s most renowned national treasure with endless activities including a Chivas Blend Burns Special Masterclass, Highland Park Haggis Making Masterclass in a converted Land Rover, a bottomless whisky brunch and of course, a traditional Burns Night celebratory dinner. On the menu all week will be a selection of Burns specials including the new Haig Club Haggis, Neeps and Tattie Tacos, two soft corn tortillas stuffed with Mac & Wild’s sustainable Venison Haggis, pickled Neeps, Crispy Tattie bits, Sriracha hot sauce and Haig Club Whisky Sour Cream, Dirty Haggis Chips topped with Chilli Cheese Sauce, Venison Haggis and Green Onion, Irn Bru Sour Cocktails and a Bobbie Burns cocktail, dedicated to the poet himself.

This Burns Night Mac & Wild are championing sustainability, launching their very own Venison Haggis, available in the restaurants with The Sustainable Burger special, as well as to purchase for Burns Night and beyond. Mac & Wild are on a mission to move haggis from a novelty product to the mainstream with their campaign #EatMoreHaggis. Haggis is truly a head-to-tail delicacy, using the whole animal when cooking means nothing is wasted, making it a sustainable, as well as affordable and delicious choice for meat eaters. Packed full of offal, haggis in moderation (as it is animal protein after all and so high in saturated fats) punches a huge boost of vitamin A, vitamin B12, folate, iron, zinc and selenium while the oats give a fibre boost we all need. This Burns night, Mac & Wild are offering everyone a free haggis recipe e-book, featuring their most loved recipes both traditional and inventive. Available to download at www.macandwild.com

Beginning the celebrations with a Chivas Blend Burns Special Masterclass on Tuesday 21st January, guests will be taken on a guided tasting session learning about the craftsmanship of the Master Whisky Blender, whilst exploring the world of whisky accompanied with a haggis pairing. On Wednesday 22nd January, learn a new skill with Highland Park House of Haggis, a bespoke haggis making masterclasses in Mac & Wild’s converted Land Rover. Taking guests through the process, secrets and magic of one of Scotland’s finest delicacies each guests will make their very own haggis chieftain to take home. Come Friday guests can delve into darkness at Mac & Wild’s Drams in the Dark immersive experience, a multi-sensory whisky tasting in complete darkness, accompanied with haggis pairings.

Burns celebrations in full swing, on Saturday 25th January, Mac & Wild will be bringing a day dedicated to Scotland’s National treasure, starting with a Bottomless Brunch with all you can drink whisky cocktails for a right ol’ Highland hurrah. A menu of bottomless Irn Bru Sours and Bobbie Burns whisky cocktails will be accompanied by dishes including the Full Scottish Breakfast, with bacon, a homemade tattie scone, haggis, black pudding mushrooms, Lorne sausage, scrambled eggs and bone marrow beans, alongside Mac & Wild Haggis Pops served with a Red Jon sauce.

On Burns Night itself, Mac & wIld will be hosting two dedicated Burns Suppers at both Mac & Wild restaurants, complete with live music, poets, dancers and whisky galore. For a knees up the bard himself would commend, guests should head to Mac & Wild Devonshire Square, where they will be greeted by live bagpipers before delving into a five course feasting menu. Those missing the bonnie homeland can feast on Highland delicacies, starting with seared hand-dived Orkney Scallop with Cullen Skink, Abroath Smokies, Braised Leeks and Poached Egg, Mac & Wild’s infamous Scotch Egg and traditional Haggis Neeps and Tatties. Moving on to mains, everyone is invited to toast the the haggis with a dram of Talisker 10 before delving into Dive and Deer, complete with poached Cromarty lobster tail and Ardgay Venison Chateaubriand served with Haggis Pepper Chips, Béarnaise Sauce and a leafy salad, before finishing with Sticky Toffee Pudding served with whisky caramel sauce. Throughout the evening guests will be treated to renditions of Rabbie Burns’ poetry classics, bag-pipers and Scottish fare, whilst sipping on a dram or two as they toast the works of Scotland’s national treasure. Bottoms up Burns!

On Friday and Saturday evening, Mac & Wild will host a dedicated Burns pop-up at 1 Devonshire Square with Copper Dog Scotch Whisky. Set for two evenings filled with endless Scottish shenanigans including live music, Scottish street food, haggis making masterclasses, a whisky wall and even bone marrow whisky Luges. Throughout the celebrations guests can tuck in to Haggis pops, Vegan Pops, Dirty Haggis chips, the vegan Bloody Roots Burger, as well as, Mac & Wild’s brand new – The Sustainable Burger – a Venison and Haggis Burger with a Wild venison Pattie, molten cheese, Haggis Hash, Mac & Wild Mayo and Crispy Onion Bits, all sat between a buttery brioche bun. The Sustainable Burger is Mac & Wild’s move to encourage Londoners to eat haggis, rather than beef, utilising parts of the animal that are not usually used, in turn reducing the amount of animals required to be killed and reducing their carbon footprint.
