Hampstead is about as close as one can get to ‘country living’ in the heart of London (it’s only four miles away from Trafalgar Square). Known to locals as Hampstead Village, the community is as famous for its large greens spaces and parks – most notably Hampstead Heath – as it is for its eclectic mix of residents. Take a stroll along Heath Street or Holly Hill and you’re as likely to rub shoulders with artists and authors as you are millionaires and celebrities.

The big attraction? Apart from its country feel, Hampstead offers excellent educational opportunities (Hampstead School is one of the top public schools in Britain) and has become a cultural hub thanks to venues such as Hampstead Theatre. There’s also no shortage of things to do and points of interest within an easy commute thanks to Hampstead’s location on the London Underground (its tube station is on the Northern line), and the village itself has many fine boutique shops and galleries, not to mention some of London’s best hotels.

Not surprisingly, Hampstead is where you’ll find some of London’s most sought after real estate, with properties for sale including some of London’s most expensive houses to chic condos and apartments, many of them available for short-stay rentals.
